By following that guide line, magazines would remain fully loaded a maximum of six months before being unloaded and reloaded. A modern magazine should be able to handle tens of thousands of cycles, but with anything, your mileage may vary. In reality, any sufficient movement of a spring will weaken it to a certain degree. This is unavoidable, and it’s why we should be checking it’s function to ensure that it’s working to our standards and expectations.
Will my gun magazines be damaged if i leave them fully loaded for a long time? Provided that you are using quality magazines, or at least quality magazine springs within your magazine bodies, this will not be a problem for you. This video answers a question that i am frequent;ly asked. Use common sense here. Do not load all of your magazines. Load 2/3rds or maybe 1/2 of them. That way you have some loaded magazines ready to go and some fresh spares. If you have say 5 magazines, load 3 and keep 2 spares. If you have like 20 magazines for say a rifle, i'd load about 10 of them and keep the other 10 in reserve until needed.
