Messages travel from one device to the next until they reached the destination device. You have a network that uses a logical bus topology. How do messages travel through the network? Messages are broadcast to all devices connected to the network.

The most common topology for a laptop or desktop computer is a star. The star topology is the simplest topology that can be built without violating the laws of physics. The simplest topology is a ring. The ring topology is much more complex and can be further broken down into four smaller topologies: A bus, a star, a torus, and a wheel. A star topology connects network devices to the network with a single patch cable; A patch cable failure makes the connected device unavailable. A bus topology has a single point of failure. If there is a break in the network media, the network becomes unavailable.
